LDIR Welcomes Povi-Tamu, Shaimaa, and Vanessa to the LDIR Team!!!

LDIR has some new folks to welcome to the LDIR community, and/or familiar faces moving into new roles:

Povi-Tamu Bryant

Povi-Tamu (pronounced Pahvee-Tamoo) comes to LDIR with a commitment to community work and community health issues.  Most recently she has facilitated community workshops with both INCITE!LA and Freedom Schools LA. In addition, she is a former Teaching Assistant with Neighborhood Schools, a program in Chicago public schools where she worked with ESL students.  She is currently a facilitator for the LDIR program and brings a strong analysis and facilitation skills to the LDIR team.  Povi-Tamu is also a graduate of UC Irivine where she received her BA in Global Cultures. Many of you may know that Povi-Tamu worked for LDIR as a part-time Community-based Program Coordinator in the Fall of 2011, however starting in 2012, Povi-Tamu will transition to full time work as a Program Coordinator!

Shaimaa Abdelhamid

LDIR would like to welcome Shaimaa Abdelhamid to our team as a new Program Assistant/Intern! Shaimaa is a recent graduate of University of Southern California, and has been doing canvassing work with Amnesty International and Equality California. She also has extensive fundraising experience, as she sat as President for Public Relations for Africa Health Initiative, where she supported a campaign to build a bridge and community garden in a rural village in Mali. We are so excited to have her join our team!

Vanessa Obispo

LDIR would like to welcome Vanessa Obispo to our team as an incoming and amazing new intern to the LDIR unit. Vanessa is a recent graduate of Vassar College, where she majored in Political Science and Italian. She’s also a former youth board member at Asian Pacific Health Care Venture, and youth advocate and instructor at the California Center for Civic Participation. We are really excited to have her perspective and experience to support our LDIRs in Health program.

LDIR is looking forward to Povi-Tamu, Shaimaa, and Vanessa’s upcoming time and contributions in the near future- look out for our newest LDIR team additions at the next LDIR event!
